A NEW BEGINNING
Friends, we have a new beginning to look forward to. It is our inheritance. “As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.” Daniel 12:13 NIV. Daniel foreshadows Christ’s promise of a New Beginning.
Child, my Word is life. Feast on it every day. It will sustain you for your journey to a new beginning, with me, for eternity.
ENDURANCE AND REST
Lord Jesus, this is an enduring journey, “go your way till the end.” We need perseverance in faith and obedience. “But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” Matthew 24:13 NIV. Help me and my fellow Christ-followers to stand firm until we are face to face with you in Heaven. Like our path, Daniel’s journey wasn’t an easy one. He faced a myriad of trials, but his unyielding faith became a testament for generations to come. May all who read this remain steadfast in our spiritual journey, no matter the obstacles we encounter. May we all leave a similar legacy for future generations of Christ-followers.
Dear child, I am with you. You are wonderful and fearfully made. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14 NIV
WORSHIP CHRIST ALONE
Lord God, you are omnipresence and omniscient. You are everywhere, and know everything. My job is not to make decisions, but to simply discern your will for me. Help me to let go of any attempt at decision-making, and fully submit myself to you and your divine will and purpose for my life. Thank you for your Holy Word.
Dear child, worship the Lord your God, Father, Spirit, Son, with your whole being, holding nothing back, surrendering fully and completely to me.
Yes, Lord. We are yours.
Friends, let us have an awe-inspired reverence for God’s creative power. We are designed with intentionality, purpose, and intricacy. Let us have immense reverence and awe for our Heavenly Father’s incredible design. If God created us with such meticulous care and intentionality, we can trust in His continuing care for us, His deep knowledge of our needs, and His unending love for us as individuals. Understanding that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” by God can affect how we see ourselves and others, encouraging us to value and respect all people as God’s creations.
GOD’S PROMISE OF REST
The promise of rest is a theme deeply ingrained in the New Testament teachings of Christ. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him, promising, “I will give you rest.” This rest is physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It is a deep, soul-level rest that surpasses understanding, offering a profound peace amid life’s storms.
OUR INHERITANCE IS A NEW BEGINNING
We, like Daniel, shall all rise and receive our allotted inheritance. This powerful promise transcends time and directly aligns with the resurrection and eternal life offered through Jesus Christ. Paul affirms this connection in the New Testament: “For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.” Romans 6:5 NIV
Our faith in Christ does not promise an escape from pain, but it does offer a triumphant hope that extends beyond our mortal lives. We are assured of a resurrection, just as Christ was raised, and an eternal inheritance in the Kingdom of God. “And if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.” Romans 8:17 NIV. Our New Beginning is not based on our own merit but the grace of God through faith in Christ.
Dear child, I have called you by name. Follow me. I have given you the power of my Holy Spirit to follow me. Follow me, and I will lead you beside still waters, and give rest for your soul.
Yes, Lord Jesus, our job is to follow you. May all Christ-followers fully live up to this name: Christ-followers.
CONCLUSION
Daniel 12:13 is a powerful verse filled with hope and promise. It reminds us that our faith journey requires endurance, promises rest, and culminates in a glorious resurrection and eternal inheritance. As we reflect on these truths, we are reassured of God’s unwavering love for us through Jesus Christ. Let us take heart and press on, for we are not journeying toward the end, but rather towards a new, glorious beginning. Daniel, a man of extraordinary faith and dedication, receives a comforting promise from an angel. The angel assures Daniel of his rest, resurrection, and inheritance – a foretaste of the eternal hope we can only find in Christ Jesus. May we keep this eternal perspective throughout all of our days here on earth.
