FAITHFUL FOLLOWERS FOREVER
Dear Heavenly Father, as dawn breaks and I reflect on the day that has passed, I find myself steeped in gratitude for your blessings that were abundant. As a new day unfolds, I place my hopes about the video and podcast project into your hands. It didn’t evolve as I had originally envisioned, but I am learning to surrender to the unexpected and trust in your providence.
I find comfort in understanding that you are the architect of results. My role is akin to the one outlined in 1 Corinthians 3:6 (NIV), “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” I plant seeds through my work, water it with hope in you Father God, but the growth and final outcomes rest solely with you. Only you.
Yes, child. Your part is to faithfully follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, who is your example of how to live your life.
This stark understanding fosters a profound perspective. My faithfulness and your results aren’t directly linked. You, Lord, are the divine orchestrator of all results. My role? To follow you, inspired by the promise in Matthew 4:19 (NIV), where you said, “Come, follow me, and I will send you out to fish for people.”
Child, you can and do produce results in your own strength, but they are often not what I want to produce. If you leave everything up to me, and are completely yielded and surrendered to me, I am able to do my best work through you.
Father God, my mind is drawn towards the phrase “Faithful Followers Forever.” I feel a sense of persistent determination when I contemplate its meaning. I need to realize this is not an abdication of my responsibilities, but rather a full alignment of my actions with your will.
Yes, child. I lead. You follow. This is my will for you.
FAITHFUL
In the whispers of your divine guidance, you remind me of the true essence of faithfulness. It requires a complete surrender of my will, my plans, and my agenda, just as Jesus taught us in Matthew 16:24 (NIV), “Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.'”
Lord God, help me to take up my cross and be a good follower today.
FOLLOWERS:
As your followers, our identity extends beyond merely being Christians. The label “Christ-follower” is more precise, informing our actions, guiding our way, and encapsulating our role in your divine plan. This aligns with 1 John 2:6 (NIV), where it is written, “Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.”
Yes, child. My Son has given you the footsteps to follow. Study my Son, Jesus Christ. Follow His Way. Be a student and follower of his Way. That requires a lot more discerning and and lot less deciding. Whenever you sin, you block yourself off from listening to me, and can’t follow me very well.
Father God, Christ Jesus, Holy Spirit, I repent for the times that I block your leadership. Help me to be an obedient Christ-follower, walking in the steps of Jesus Christ.
You are forgiven my dear child. Anyone who repents is forgiven of their sins. As you mature, the sins become much more subtle, and take some deep introspection to see where you are failing to follow.
Please help me and my sisters and brothers called by your name to follow you more closely every day, Father God.
FOREVER:
Our commitment to follow you, Lord, doesn’t have an expiration date. It is a lifetime pursuit, not a fleeting resolution. We never reach a point where we can say, “Enough of obedience in Christ, now I reclaim my life.” This journey with you is for eternity, propelling us to aim for one ultimate goal: to finish well. This lifelong race of faithfulness reminds us of the Apostle Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV), “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” This is the race we strive to complete, under your guidance, leading a life worthy of your calling.
Child, your reward for this obedient following is also forever, with me, in Heaven.
Yes, Father God. We will all be there, those true Christ-followers. We don’t know who those are. We are not to judge. But we are called to discern. Help us to know where to invest our time, with whom, and how.
Child, investing your life with me will give you the greatest return. There is nothing that you need to do, except follow me. I will always give you leadership and direction. You are responsible for your faithful follower-ship.
Father God, thank you for this journey. Now, with your permission, I am going to go pack for my flight back to Panama.
You have my love and support. I am pleased with you and your progress in following me. Keep doing what you are doing, and look at ways you can glorify me on your trip. Do all that you do with excellence. This pleases me and brings my joy. It brings you joy as well.
Thank you Father God.
Your aspiring servant,
Daniel M.
