Dear Jesus, my Lord and Savior, please make me into the person you want me to become. I know that I need to be humbled. It is a scary thing to ask the Creator and Ruler of the universe to humble you, but that is my sincere prayer. All of us will be ultimately humbled one day, in the final moment where we pass from this life, to see you face to face. Why not start now? Please humble me right here… right now. Grind me into a fine powder, as I will someday be, when my soul departs and my body decays.
Lord Jesus, I am needing to be in full submission to you, and follow your will for my life. I can’t do that if I am in control – if I am pretending to be in charge. I must decrease so that you can increase in the hearts and minds of those around me. Please make me into a beacon of your love and your light. I know that I am a sinner, saved by your amazing grace. And I know that you use me in sometimes miraculous ways. I do pray that you will use me more every day. I want to lose myself in you. Completely. Utterly. I just want to be filled with all of you.
Today, I will practice being a fine powder from the ashes of my pride. Please consume me with the fire of your eternal, all-encompassing love. May I have the love you have for your people. May I shower them with the same love that continually rains on me. Thank you for loving me. Please help me to love like you do. I invite you to humble me, break me of all selfish pride, and remake me as you want me to be, for your glory and your honor. It is in the holy and blessed name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
