Father God, is true humility possible from people? I think you are the only one, in the form of Jesus Christ, that ever possessed true humility.

Dear child, here in the book of James you will find your answer: (James Chapter 4 NIV)

  • v6 …  “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
  • v7 …   Submit yourselves, then, to God …
  • v8 …   purify your hearts …
  • v9 …   Grieve, mourn and wail …
  • v10 … Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Dear Father, here is what I get from your message: These are steps for me to take to become humble:

  1. Seek your favor through humility.
  2. Fully submit myself to you.
  3. Purify myself through confession: I have failed to be humble.
  4. Take it seriously; a lack of humility is a serious sin.
  5. Come to you broken; you will put me back together as you prefer.

Yes, my child. A lack of humility truly grieves me. Reflect on this: Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. James 3:1 NIV

Lord, I am not worthy to be a teacher of you and your Way.

Correct my child. You are not worthy for: 48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. Luke 12:48 NIV

So I will step aside. I am not worthy to be a teacher of your Holy Word.

Dear child, no human being is worthy to teach about me. I am the only one who is worthy. My Holy Spirit will do the teaching. You need to be faithful to teach what you are being given to teach. I will teach. You will be used by me, and stay aware that:

  • You are not worthy.
  • I alone am worthy.
  • You will be used by me to the degree you humble yourself at my feet.
  • All who teach need to do the same as you; this is a message for all my servants who hear this message.

Father God, thank you for your Holy Spirit. I adore you and praise your Holy Name. Have your way with me and my fellows. Especially those you have called to be used by you to teach your Word. May we who have been given much be faithful in the execution of our duties, given by you. Not because we are special, for we are the least of all, and will be judged more strictly. You have given us much, and therefore you require much. You require true humility.

Yes, my child. Reflect on this: 27 To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. 28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’ 29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. 30 He must become greater; I must become less.” John 3:27-30 NIV

Yes, Father God. May you be glorified in all that you do through those of us who have been called to teach your Holy Word.

My child: 31 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. 33 Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. 34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. John 3:31-36 NIV

Father God, may we only testify to your and your greatness. We have no righteousness apart from you. You alone are worthy of praise. We can only follow you, surrender to your Holy Spirit, and you will work through us as is your good pleasure.

Lord, thank you for your words of encouragement. Thank you for the privilege of being used by you.

Dear child, continue to abide in me and when you are face to face with me, you will hear: 21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ Matthew 25:21 NIV. Until that time, you are to remain humble, and always acknowledge it is my Holy Spirit doing any good work in you.

Yes, Lord God. It is ONLY you. Here is a great summary for me: 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14 NIV.

Well done my child. Have a great, Holy-Spirit filled day.

Amen! Thank you again for the encouragement (and brokenness).

Your aspiring servant,

Daniel M.
